Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities. Their owners have a relentless drive to create and build. For years, small businesses have been at risk of being left behind in the convenience economy, which has only accelerated in a pandemic.
When we met Tony, Andy, Stanley, and Evan at DoorDash, they were committed to empowering local economies by helping brick-and-mortar businesses compete.
As their reach grew, that mission endured. What Tony and team have achieved is so much more than food delivery. DoorDash is helping local businesses thrive.
Just five years ago, delivery was not a new idea. When we led their Series B, DoorDash was competing in a crowded space that was poorly serving its customers (both restaurants and consumers). What was different was the team, their technology, their commitment to their customers, and their drive to execute. We believed the opportunity for DoorDash was to be the logistics platform for last-mile delivery.
Today, DoorDash connects more than 390,000 merchants, and over 1 million dashers, with more than 18 million customers across the United States, Canada, and Australia.
This is only the beginning.
We want to extend a heartfelt congratulations to DoorDash for making history.
